Getting to the Conference

Flying into St. Louis:

One option is to fly into St. Louis and then rent a car to drive to Carbondale.  It takes about two hours.  If you are comfortable driving, many recommend renting a car as the easiest option to get from St. Louis to Carbondale.  It is one that provides flexibility once in Carbondale as the hotel is located a few miles from downtown and the campus.

Another option is to fly into St. Louis and take the BART Shuttle.  https://www.bartshuttle.com.  The BART shuttle makes multiple stops along the away and takes time as a result.

Finally, there is also a local airport, the Williamson County Airport, recently renamed the Veterans Airport of Southern Illinois.  Flight service from St. Louis is provided by Cape Air.  http://www.veteransairport.com/flight-schedule.php .

Cape Air operates small 8-person prop engine airplanes, so book only if you are comfortable with small planes.  Hertz serves the airport as do a number of taxis.  Frequent users have recommended reserving a taxi in advance from Red Top Cab of Marion (618-997-1098).  There are other options listed on the airport website.

Flying into Paducah:

United provides direct flights from Chicago to Paducah, Kentucky.  You can then rent a car to drive from Paducah to Carbondale.  It takes approximately an hour.

Taking the Train:

For those living either north or south of Carbondale (Milwaukee, Chicago, Champagne, Memphis, Oxford, Jackson, New Orleans, etc.), Amtrak is an option.  https://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=am/am2Station/Station_Page&code=CDL .  Both the hotel and law school are located a few miles from the Amtrak station.  Uber and Lyft do not currently serve the Carbondale market.  Riders recommend calling ahead for a taxi prior to arrival.   https://www.yellowpages.com/carbondale-il/taxis

Driving & Parking:

If you are driving to the law school for the conference, the street address for the law school is 1150 Douglas Drive, Carbondale, Illinois 62901.

There is free parking for the conference in either Lot 59 or Lot 63(a).  Lot 63(a) is adjacent to the law school; Lot 59 is just a short walk past the tennis courts.  http://parking.siu.edu/_common/files/park-rules-regs-map-2016-7.pdf
